Recognised as one of the leading caterers for Christchurch, Marlborough and the South Island of New Zealand, Continental has been an established, respected family business for nearly 50 years. This experience is proven as we service all style of functions, from the private dining for anniversaries and birthday celebrations, weddings, corporate events, public catering services, cultural and sporting festivals, conferences, cocktail functions, balls and gala dinners.

We love food – that’s why we are caterers and our passion for delivering wonderful dining experiences is carried through in all aspects of our business, from the preparation to presentation of the entire menu, to the management of function venues and our Continental marquee hire. Catering Far and Wide

The company administration, commercial kitchens with retail bakery outlet, marquee and equipment hire divisions is based in Rangiora – 30 minutes north of Christchurch. From this centralised base in Canterbury, we have easy access to the South Island, servicing Marlborough, Nelson, West Coast, Ashburton and Timaru, the entire South Canterbury, Otago and Queenstown – Arrowtown regions.

The Continental marquee collection is recognised as one of the most comprehensive, in New Zealand. Our marquees are utilised throughout the entire South Island, and our larger units are also erected at key events in North Island New Zealand.

Superb Infrastructure

Out-catering in the delightful South Island environment has been pioneered by Continental. Due to the need for our clients to have quality marquees, furniture and tableware, Continental has diversified the business to offer marquee and event equipment hire divisions. This allows us to be completely self-sustainable and delivering the latest in styles and ensures our events, whether it is a wedding or an international sporting tournament, are provided with world-class quality infrastructure.

The logistics of managing event catering is dynamic, and the experience of the Continental team is unmatched in New Zealand. A fleet of dedicated vehicles servicing all variety of needs from specialised refrigeration to a heavy transportation fleet supports the efficient ability to move our gear throughout the South Island. Our plant extends to the operation of our own laundry service, and a state of the art marquee washing machine ensuring our equipment is maintained and presented in pristine condition.

 

Excellent Personnel

With a full time staff of over 80, and a casual pool taking our team to over 200 carefully selected staff of which many have been delivering the Continental Experience for over 10 years. Our staff, from the kitchen to the waiters, marquee builders to the bakery retail are trained to deliver to the Continental standard, serving with style and all with an immaculate presentation.

In addition to the expertise our own team provides, we work alongside the best creative brains in the industry: event organisers, theming professionals, entertainers, floral artists, lighting maestros, sound and staging specialists.
